Fresh Crunch Pickles - What to do with your leftover pickle juice

Don't throw out that leftover pickle juice. It's potent.

How many jars of Fresh Crunch Pickles do you have in your fridge? How many of them are full? Chances are one or two (or all) of your Fresh Crunch Pickle jars are almost empty. There may be one or two extra pickles hanging out in a pool of brine in their final hour. We don't blame them, brine juice is a good place to hang out. It's loaded with flavor and nutrients. It is super underrated if we do say so ourselves.

When you finish your pickles, what do you do with the leftover juice? Repurpose it or pour it down the drain? We've been around the sun a few times to learn a few ways to use the extra juice. NEVER pour it out.

Here's what to do when your precious Fresh Crunch Pickles are gone and the potent juice remains.

Drink up

The two most common nutrients found in pickle juice are sodium and potassium. Pickle juice also contains small amounts of calcium, magnesium, and a variety of antioxidants, including vitamin C and E. Pickle juice is also packed with electrolytes and probiotics. The high levels of potassium & electrolytes make pickle juice a superhero for muscle cramps & hangovers. On top of that, there are nutrients and vitamins of the additional herbs and seasonings we spice our pickles up with ;)

*Be careful- the sodium content is high so drink it at your discretion.

Add liquor to it (Adults Only)

Make pickleback shots- chase your favorite whiskey with a small sip of pickle juice. We like the classic dill brine for this. If you are more of a martini mogul, swap out the olive juice for pickle brine for extra umami flavor. Then use it again in the morning in your "hair of the dog" bloody marys.

Make dressings, brines, or marinades

You can substitute pickle juice for vinegar in most recipes especially in salad dressings, pasta salads, and potato salads. YUM. You can also use it to flavor chips, dips, or even use it as a marinade!

Try this dill pickle vinaigrette salad dressing then thank us later!

INGREDIENTS

  • ¼ cup pickle juice

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill

  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

  • 1 small garlic clove, peeled and minced

  • Pinch red pepper flakes

  • Kosher salt, to taste

METHOD In a bowl, whisk all of the ingredients together until emulsified. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Lastly, make more pickles

Have extra veggies hanging out in your fridge? Re-pickle them! Start with clean, fresh veggies. Cucumbers are great, but so are green beans, cauliflower, carrots, radishes, turnips, beets, or shredded cabbage. Cut them up and put them back in your Fresh Crunch pickle jar. Add extra vinegar if needed. Once you’ve combined your veggies and brine, put them in an airtight container and store them in the fridge. They’re usually ready to eat within 24 hours. Save the lives of your nearly wilted vegetables & help lower food waste! Yes, we are stating that pickles can help save our precious planet earth.
